Cartographer Slipgear gives the first (many subsequent expansions included upgraded versions) aug which gets better as you explore the expansion.
Many NPCs give mission arcs which, upon completion, yield default cursor loot (by archetype) and a boss drop; many have "normal" and "difficult" versions, with better loot tables; and many are part of Dreadspire Keep and/or Demiplane of Blood Access, and/or yield progress in a quest for a face item with a clicky resist buff. Like Anguish, DOB requires both keying and flagging.
