Overview

The following is a list of essential AAs that every Bard should have.

This is not a comprehensive list of AAs available to Bards; it is simply a list of the most essential AAs required in order to be effective. To that end, the abilities are presented in task-specific groups (allowing you to easily locate the infromation you are seeking and more clearly understand what effect certain AAs will have on your character's abilities).

Please note that these abilities are presented in no particular order, and prerequisite abilities are not listed.

Defensive AAs

Ability

Description

Combat Agility

This passive ability will increase your damage avoidance (meaning you will get hit less when an enemy attacks you).

Combat Stability

This passive ability will increase your damage mitigation (meaning you will suffer less damage when an enemy hits you).

Natural Durability

This passive ability will increase your hit points.

Physical Enhancement

This passive ability will increase your hit points, damage avoidance, and damage mitigation.

General Sturdiness

This passive ability will increase your hit points by 100 points for each rank purchased.

Slippery Attacks

This passive ability will make it more difficult for your opponent to riposte your off-hand attacks. If you purchase all levels of this AA, your opponent cannot riposte your off-hand attacks at all.

Shield of Notes

This ability, which must be activated to use, grants you significant melee and spell damage mitigation for a short period of time.

You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may only use this ability once every 36 minutes.

Hymn of the Last Stand

This ability, which must be activated to use, increases your hit points for a short period of time. While the ability is active, your hit point total will slowly decrease.

increase hit points by 2600, heal 2600 hit points, decrease hit points by 70 per tick for 1 minute, 30 seconds


You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may only use this ability once every 10 minutes.

Pulling AAs

Ability

Description

Fading Memories

This ability, which must be activated to use, is by far the most important pulling tool available. It is an instant-cast memory blur that removes you from the hate-list of EVERYTHING. You can use it as often as you want, providing you have the mana to do so.

This ability costs 900 mana to use.

Boastful Bellow

This ability, which is activated to use, is an excellent pulling tool. It is an instant-cast long-range ability that does a (very) small amount of damage to your target. It can also stun your target (to interupt spell casting).

You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may use this ability every 18 seconds.

Selo's Sonata

This ability, which must be activated to use, is an instant-cast group run-speed buff.

You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may use this ability once every 5 seconds.

Innate Run Speed

This passive ability will allow you to run faster. This is particularly useful in indoor locations where all other run-speed buffs are disallowed.

Dirge of the Sleepwalker

This ability, which must be activated to use, is an excellent crowd control tool; it is an extremely fast casting mesmerize with a duration of 1 minute, 12 seconds. It also has a chance to memory blur your target.

This ability works on opponents <= level 83.

You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability, thus allowing you to perform crowd control and still continue fighitng.

You may only use this ability once every 10 minutes.

Maestro's Concentration

This passive ability will allow you to avoid being stunned while pulling.

Personal DPS AAs (Solo)

Ability

Description

Critical Affliction

This passive ability gives your damage-over-time spells the chance to score a critical pulse each tick.

Fury of Magic

This passive ability gives your direct damage spells the chance to score a critical blast.

Personal DPS AAs (Group)

Ability

Description

Burst of Power

This passive ability raises the cap of your triple-attack skill.

Combat Fury

This passive ability increases your chance of scoring a critical hit.

Veteran's Wrath

This passive ability increases your damage when scoring a critical hit.

Weapon Affinity

This passive ability increases the rate at which your weapons proc.

Ambidexterity

This passive ability increases your chance to use dual-wield successfully.

Harmonious Attack

This passive ability grants you a chance to perform a double-attack in any given combat round.

Sinister Strikes

This passive ability the damage done when you strike with a weapon in your off-hand.

Enhanced Aggression

This passive ability allows you to increase the maximum amount of attack you gain from items by 10 for each level of it that you purchase. This is not just for raiding Bards; a Bard wearing only Crystallos groupable gear (visible armour, non-visible armour, and augments) may need to purchase the first 6 levels of this ability.

Dance of Blades

This ability, which must be activated to use, will massively increase your chance of making the maximum number of attacks per round, and connecting with those attacks. It also allows you to proc a debuff which will significantly lower the melee capabilities of your opponent (hp, ac, fire/cold/magic resist).

You may only use this ability once every 36 minutes (unless you purchase the "Hastened Blades" ability).

Song of Stone

This ability, which must be activated to use, will summon a swarm of gargoyle pets to attack your opponent for a short period of time.

Cacophony

This ability, which must be activated to use, will inflict damage-over-time on your opponent. This ability has the potential to disrupt spell casting, especially at higher levels. After rank 6, this ability also inflicts a burst of direct-damage when activated (which is unfortunate if you don't want to break root).

You may only use this ability once every 15 minutes (unless you purchase the "Hastened Cacophony" ability).

Group DPS AAs

Ability

Description

Fierce Eye

This ability, which must be activated to use, will increase the chances of your group members experiencing a critial heal, critical heal-over-time, critical blast, or critical damage-over-time pulse. It will also increase the amount of damage inflicted when striking an opponent, the amount of critical strikes, and the rate at which weapons proc.

You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may only use this ability once every 10 minutes.

Quick Time

This ability, which must be activated to use, will increase attack value, chance to strike your opponent, and weapon swing rate of your group members.

Effect

grant "Hundred Hands" effect (decreases weapon delay) and increase attack by 150, chance to hit with all skills by 10%


You do not need to stop your melody to use this ability.

You may only use this ability once every 15 minutes.

Funeral Dirge

This ability, which must be activated to use, will increase the amount of damage your opponent takes. When the song wears off, you opponent is struk with a burst of direct-damage.

This passive ability allows you a chance to continue singing even while stunned.

Ayonae's Tutelage

This passive ability allows improvements in the use of all instrument and singing types.

Instrument Mastery

This passive ability allows for improved use of all instrument types.

Singing Mastery

This passive ability allows for improved use of your voice.

Jam Fest

This passive ability allows you to sing songs at a higher apparent level (certain songs dervice a bonus based on your apparent level).

Extended Notes

This passive ability allows your songs to affect a wider area.

Other AAs

Ability

Description

Mnemonic Retention

This passive ability will allow you to memorize one additional song for each level of it that you purchase.

Master of Disguise

This passive ability will allow any illusion cast on you to be permanent (until you die, or 16 hours and 40 minutes elapses). This is extremely useful for illusions (such as Werefolf or Air Elemental) that have significant and useful effects.

Tune of Pursuance

This passive ability will increase your tracking skill by 10 for each level of it that you purchase. With this ability, bard tracking is *very* acceptable.

Battle Ready

This passive ability will increase the number of bandolier slots avialable to you by 1 for each level of it that you purchase. This is particularly useful if you have a large number of instruments or weapons.

Origin

This ability, which must be activated to use, will transport you to your home city.

You may only use this ability once every 1 hour, 12 minutes (unless you purchase the "Hastened Origin" ability).
